At the beginning of the fall semester of 1997
Duquesne University opened a brand new Commuter
Center. Located on the first floor of the Duquesne
Union, the Center provides a great deal of space
and several services for Duquesne's commuting
population. The Commuter Center is just one example
of Duquesne's continuing commitment to commuter
students.
The main area includes offices for the Commuter
Affairs staff including the Director, Secretary
and Graduate Assistant.
The Lounge area includes comfortable furniture,
a big screen television, refrigerator and microwave
ovens.
Other features of the Commuter Center include
the following:
• Lobby Area for programming
• Quiet Study Room
• Computer Lab with 20 work stations
• Commuter Affairs Office
• Commuter Council Office
• History Pictures of Duquesne University
• Commuter Conference Center

We hope that the Commuter Center will become
your "home away from home." Spending
time in the Commuter Center is a great way to
meet other commuting students and find out what's
happening at Duquesne. It is just a great place
to rest and relax in between classes.
A History of Duquesne University
Students who enter the main hallway area of
the Commuter Center will be offered a free history
lesson regarding Duquesne University. With the
assistance of the University Archives, the Office
of Commuter Affairs created a unique display of
how the Duquesne Campus and the City of Pittsburgh
once appeared. When browsing the display you will
find a small caption located below each picture
which describes each photograph. Take some time
out of your busy schedule to see how the Duquesne
Campus has been transformed over the years. |
